SSD's have much higher access times compared to hard drives as there is no rotating parts. Even if they dont have the io bandwidth of their counterparts, this usually makes up for it.

There are two types, SLC and MLC. SLC is much faster and low risk. MLC much slower and high risk, but very cheap. Be careful about this when buying your memory.
